Tile Installation & Schluter Waterproofing in CT, NY, RI, MA & NH

Floor Tile Installation
Porcelain and ceramic tile for kitchens, entryways, mudrooms, bathrooms, and commercial spaces. Large-format tile (24"×24" and larger) is a specialty — proper substrate preparation and lippage control are critical, and we have the tools and experience to deliver a flat, professional result.
Bathroom & Shower Tile
Full shower enclosure tile work including floor, walls, niches, and curbs. We install Schluter Kerdi waterproofing membrane before tiling to ensure a watertight assembly that meets TCNA standards. No mud beds — just a proven modern waterproofing system that outlasts traditional methods.
Schluter Systems Installation
We are experienced Schluter Systems installers. Schluter products we regularly install:
- Schluter Kerdi: Bonded waterproofing membrane for showers and wet areas
- Schluter Ditra: Uncoupling membrane that prevents tile cracking over wood subfloors
- Schluter Ditra-Heat: Electric radiant heat mat integrated with Ditra — warm tile floors in bathrooms and kitchens
- Schluter strips and profiles: RENO, JOLLY, SCHIENE — clean transitions between tile and other flooring materials
- Schluter Kerdi-Board: Waterproof substrate for shower niches and shelving
Natural Stone
Marble, travertine, slate, and granite tile installation. Natural stone requires additional steps: sealing before grouting, back-buttering every piece, and careful lippage management. We're experienced with the nuances that distinguish a professional stone installation from an amateur one.
Tile Installation Process
- Substrate assessment: Deflection testing for wood subfloors (Ditra is required over most wood subfloors to prevent cracking), moisture testing for concrete, inspection of existing substrate condition
- Substrate preparation: Leveling, crack isolation membrane, Ditra or Kerdi installation as appropriate
- Layout: Dry lay to establish the pattern, center lines, and cut planning before any mortar is mixed
- Setting: Large-format tile set with large-trowel notched trowel method, back-buttering for full coverage; medium beds for natural stone
- Grouting: Unsanded grout (1/16"–1/8" joints), sanded grout (1/8"–1/2" joints), or epoxy grout for high-stain-risk commercial applications
- Sealing: Natural stone and grout sealed after installation where appropriate

- Basic porcelain floor tile (supply and install): $10–$14 per sq ft
- Large format tile (24"×24"+, supply and install): $14–$20 per sq ft
- Shower tile with Schluter Kerdi waterproofing: $18–$28 per sq ft (wall area)
- Schluter Ditra-Heat electric radiant system: $12–$18 per sq ft (installed)
- Natural stone installation: $16–$30 per sq ft depending on material
- Tile removal: $3–$5 per sq ft
